John Owen-Jones, The Most Beautiful Voice In Musical Theatre?
Now, as you’ve probably read on my side bar, I’m a Drama student, much to my own downfall, however, being a drama student does have it’s benefits! It means that I get to take a completely justified interest in theatre. Drama for me is an absolute passion, I kick myself every day for choosing not to go to drama school, however, my alternate option was a lot safer than drama. However, in my drama travels and musings, I came across John Owen-Jones, and I have to say (and this is only my personal opinion) he has to have one of the most beautiful voices in theatre, there is just a quality to his voice that other vocalists lack. Now don’t get me wrong, I very much like and appreciate the likes other male musical theatre vocalists, I’m a little bit partial to a bit of Alfie Boe and sometimes some Michael Ball, I love a voice that can sing a story and make you feel as if you’re in the centre of that story, A lullaby voice that can either sing you to sleep or just sing all of your troubles away, and let me tell you, John Owen-Jones has just that, I could quite honestly sit and listen to his voice for hours, If he could sing my textbooks for me, I’m pretty sure I would learn a lot more whilst revising!
I would highly recommend that any of you reading this with an interest in musical theatre and/or just generally beautiful singing, you give John Owen-Jones a listen!
Now, I’ll be 200% honest and admit that I’m very unsure as to why I dedicated a whole blog post to this, but it was well worth it!
So please enjoy John Owen-Jones’ cover of my personal theatre favourite “Bui-Doi” from the musical Miss Saigon.
